PRESS RELEASE
HE NO LONGER HAS A SHOWROOM,
BUT DAVID LANDIS IS ALL OVER HIGHPOINT!

Highpoint, NC -- You may not see the familiar and distinctive look of David Landis Design's lighting showroom at this coming Market, but DLDI is in Highpoint in a big way. With products he has designed for Remington Lamps, Cardinal Products, Pecaso Lighting, Flair International, and The Little Lamp Company, David Landis enters the upcoming Market with a range of new products manufactured by these well-known companies, combining their manufacturing muscle and competitive pricing with his always-distinctive design.
Landis began shifting the manufacturing of his lamps -- including the Roscoe Award winning Landis Lamp -- from his NYC factory in 2000, when he joined forces with Roxter Manufacturing. In early 2001, he began working closely with other lighting manufacturing companies, employing his unique design style to help them expand their market base.
"It was time for me to get out of manufacturing," says Landis of his new direction. "The design possibilities increased dramatically once I realized I could focus all my attention on creating innovative new products in different vernaculars." He adds: "The power of the global market has enabled me to bring many new products -- as well as my existing collections -- to market under the auspices of well-established companies at really competitive price points."

This coming Highpoint Market will mark the debut of four new DLDI collections from Remington Lamps, located in Philadelphia, two of which -- the "Mixed Metal" and the "Droop" Series -- are reminiscent of Landis's original collections, replete with crystals. The "Tuscan" collection, which Landis describes as "Modern Roman," will also debut at Highpoint along with the "African Lady" series. Of the latter, Landis says: "'African Lady' is a big departure for me, and we are all excited about its prospects."

Landis has also worked closely with Cardinal Products in the past year, helping add depth to the company's existing lines. Cardinal, which is based in Farmingdale, NY, is re-introducing a range of original DLDI collections in the October Market -- including the "Venus," "Mono," and "Pisa" collections at 50-60% lower than the former wholesale price. In addition, Cardinal is also introducing a new range of Landis-designed products, including the "Bela Lamp," the "Tiny Tube Collection," and the intriguingly named "Big Phatt Lamp." Landis says: "The quality of the finishes are just as good if not better than the lamps I made myself, and the KD aspect of the items makes them much easier and less expensive to ship." Moreover, since Cardinal makes their own shades, the choice of shade fabrics available has increased twenty-fold, Landis notes.

Beginning in 2002, Landis has also been working with Pecaso Lighting, based in Brooklyn, NY, designing the "Petite Chic" chandelier and table lamp collection which was introduced at the April Market. More Landis-designed products from Pecaso are expected for the April 2003 Market. Landis has also been designing some unique lamps for Flair International, based in Phoenix, AZ, which are "both innovative and retro," Landis says. "Lets just say that one of them involves pink leather -- you should not miss these!" A Landis lamp designed for Florida-based Little Lamp Company, which he describes as "Asian minimalist," will also be introduced at the October Market. Landis is optimistic for the future, and especially for the upcoming Market: "In retrospect, having my own showroom limited me. Now I am able to focus on what I love doing -- designing some of the most distinctive lighting you'll find in Highpoint!"
